Marc Langheinrich

Marc Langheinrich is assistant professor in the Faculty of Informatics at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), Lugano, Switzerland, since September 2008. Marc received his PhD (Dr. sc.) on the topic Privacy in Ubiquitous Computing from the ETH Zurich, Switzerland, in 2005. Marc is one of the authors of P3P, a W3C-standard for privacy on the Web, and has published extensively on privacy aspects of ubiquitous and pervasive computing systems (~2000 citations in Google Scholar). Marc is a regular program committee member of various conferences and workshops in the areas of pervasive computing, security and privacy, and usability. Marc has been Program Chair of the Intl. Conf. On Networked Sensing Systems (INSS) 2006, Pervasive 2007, and the Internet of Things 2008 conference, as well as organizer of several Ubicomp privacy workshops. Marc was involved in the FP5 Smart-Its project and in several industry-funded research efforts (e.g., with Hitachi Research Japan, Nokia Research Switzerland) in the intersection of ubiquitous computing, security, and privacy. He has been an expert and reviewer for the FP6 SWAMI project, a member of the ENISA Ad-hoc Working Group on Privacy and Technology, and is currently the Swiss MC representative in the COST action IS0807 Living in Surveillance Societies (LiSS).
